When I die, bury me…
23rd June 2006
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to bury this fan in a style that only they would appreciate. Yes, this officially licensed casket holds the beloved. They will go into the afterlife knowing that they’ll be taking their love of their favorite MLB team with them. Who can we thank for this?
Here’s how Bloomberg News is reporting it:
Major League Baseball and Eternal Image Inc., a designer of funeral products, have reached a licensing agreement that may allow devoted fans to take their team loyalties to the grave.
The agreement allows Eternal Image to decorate its caskets and urns with the names and logos of any of the 30 major league teams, the company said in a statement. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
“This new line of team-specific funeral products opens a whole new market for our company — a market that is just waiting for a way to make team loyalty a ‘final’ statement of a great passion in their lives,” Clint Mytych, chief executive officer of Eternal Image, said in the statement.
The new products will be available in 2007.
When I die, bury me, with my favorite team.
