With the weekend nearly here, let’s just chew on some numbers…

  1. The price Peter Angelos says a ticket would have to be at Camden Yards to allow for the Orioles to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox: $40.00
  2. Number of consecutive losing seasons by the Orioles: 8
  3. Average attendance at Camden Yards this year: 25,915
  4. Number of days till San Antonio says all offers with the Marlins are off the table: 17 (May 15th deadline)
  5. Number of total days since San Antonio presented a partial stadium funding mechanism: 51 days (since March 8th)
  6. Number of days till the Nationals break ground on their $611 million stadium: 6 days
  7. Total asking price for just the Nationals franchise: $450 million
  8. Number of bidders left in the running for the purchase of the Nationals: 2 (Zients/Malek and Lerner/Kasten)
  9. Number of days till owners are announced: Between 0-6 (the owners will be at the groundbreaking, and announcement could come at anytime)
  10. Number of years that the Twins have been trying to finance a new stadium: 10
  11. Cost for a new stadium for the Twins: $522 million
  12. Amount of tax increase in Hennepin Co. to pay for the stadium: 3/8 cents
  13. Vote to pass the tax in Minnesota House: 76-55 in favor of the stadium tax increase
  14. How much say does the public have: 0 (if the vote gets through the Minnesota Legislature, it will fund the stadium outside of the referendum process)
  15. Amount of money in taxes Time Warner would save if they sell the Braves to Liberty Media: $100 million
  16. Number of bidders seen as serious in the sale of the Braves: 2 (Arthur Blank and Liberty Media)
  17. Final votes by the New York City Council to approve financing for the new Yankees and Mets stadiums: 48-1 for the Mets and 46-3 for the Yankees, both in favor
  18. Chances that the Mets and the Yankees will be stymied from building these stadiums: Pretty much 0. The only hope for opponents is the IRS and the National Parks Service.

  20. Number of small fires at Busch III: 1 (a small fire in a box occurred yesterday)
