		<description>What ever happened to the last &quot;new design&quot; for the Mets ballpark?  I remember a few years back it was also unveiled with much fanfare but I never heard anything more about it.  It had a number of innovative features including a retractable roof and I thought I remember there was something special about the field too that was innovative.  Does anyone remember?  Compared to that previous &quot;new design&quot; this new design seems pretty banal.</description>

		<description>I like how HOK used a cross-section from down the first/third-base lines to make their seating distances look good by comparison. Because Shea is a circle, those seats are the worst in the house for distance to the field - if they&#039;d used a cross-section from behind home plate, the new park wouldn&#039;t look as good as it does.

I also wonder what happened to the promise in state development documents that the new upper deck would be &quot;lower in elevation than the third seating level known as the Mezzanine Level at Shea Stadium,&quot; since that clearly isn&#039;t true...</description>
